FAQs

Q: When do I have to register by?

A: The deadline to register is August 8th.

Q: Will we be safe in Mexico?

A: Numerous safety precautions and regulations are in effect at the Barceló Resort; plan on reading the literature in your rooms (Lodging Terms & Conditions in the phone book). As far as traveling outside the Resort, if you take common sense precautions and be vigilant at all times, you should be fine. Visit only legitimate businesses and tourist areas during daylight hours and travel in pairs/groups. Visit the U.S. Department of State website (http://travel.state.gov/travel) for additional advice when traveling in Mexico and for any travel warning updates.

Q: What will it cost if we want to purchase one more trip?

A: The purchase of an extra trip is subject to availability and at the discretion of Kenwood. Your request will be placed on a stand-by list and if availability opens up (sometime in August), you will be notified. The cost is based on double occupancy and will depend on the room class—(see general pricing below; plus any additional fees, which are subject to change).

Both packages below include an all-inclusive 7-night stay at the Barceló Maya Palace Deluxe (October 4-11), along with round trip transfers to and from the airport to the Barceló. The additional cost of airfare is not included in the pricing below and can be quoted by your designated travel advisor upon request:

Kenwood’s Rockstar Package (Single Occupancy) $1260
Kenwood’s Rockstar Package (Double Occupancy) $1980

Q: What will it cost to upgrade my suite?

A: It could cost an additional amount of $462 to $3,437 for an upgrade for a 7-night stay (price fluctuation is based on occupancy). It is subject to availability at the time of booking. Also, the Barceló does not allow children (17 and younger) in selected areas/suites.

Q: When can I request a room/suite upgrade?

A: Please request upgrades during the registration process or through the Montrose Travel Group Desk to ensure the best price and availability.

Q: Can I bring additional guests?

A: Additional guests in the same room (3rd or 4th person) can be requested at the time of online registration. Additional rooms will be handled on a request basis and are subject to availability. The additional guest charge will be assessed at the time of request. It could cost as additional amount of $574 to $1981 per additional guest for a 7 night stay, plus any additional taxes/fees (price fluctuation is based on occupancy).

Q: Can we bring infants/children to the Resort?

A: Kenwood discourages, but does not prohibit, bringing infants and children under 18 years of age. However, infants must be at least four months of age to be eligible to travel. Please check with your physician to ensure your infant/child is up-to-date on immunizations, etc. and permitted to travel to Mexico. All children must have valid passports. Larger rooms/upgrades are available in limited quantities and we may not be able to accommodate large families. The cost is waived for infants/children ranging from 4 months to 2 years old. Young children (ages 2-12) will be charged $574 per child. After the child becomes 13 years of age, they will be charged as an adult. Maximum occupancy per room is 4—this could be 4 adults, 2 adults with 2 children, 3 adults with 1 child, etc.

Mexican law requires that any non-Mexican citizen under the age of 18 departing Mexico must carry notarized written permission from any parent or guardian not traveling with the child to or from Mexico. This permission must include the name of the parent, the name of the child, the name of anyone traveling with the child, and the notarized signature(s) of the absent parent(s). The State Department recommends that the permission should include travel dates, destinations, airlines and a brief summary of the circumstances surrounding the travel. The child must be carrying the original letter – not a facsimile or scanned copy – as well as proof of the parent/child relationship (usually a birth certificate or court document) – and an original custody decree, if applicable. Travelers should contact the Mexican Embassy or the nearest Mexican Consulate for current information.

Q: Should I obtain travel insurance for my trip?

A: Kenwood and Montrose Travel recommend obtaining travel insurance before traveling. Montrose Travel recommends that you use Travel Guard. Click here for more information on Travel Guard.

We also encourage obtaining travel medical insurance, to travel with extra supplies of prescription medications and devices and to fully disclose pre-existing medical conditions before sailing. Many regular health insurance plans do not provide coverage when travelers are outside the United States.
